Life coaching en Counseling
Clarity and overview are the starting points for all life coaching or counseling sessions. The clearer the view on your life as a whole or on a particular situation, the easier it is to get to the heart of the matter. Subsequently, we will look at what it takes to free yourself from what stands in your way to live a fulfilling life.
Reasons for Life Coaching and Counseling
- Existential questions or dilemmas
- Burnout; prevention and treatment
- Stress management
- Depressed mood or anxiety
- Insecurity or low self-esteem
- Panic attacks
- Processing a traumatic event or unpleasant experience
What is Life Coaching?
The central principle is that all aspects of life and the person are addressed in life coaching and counseling. Even if there is a specific situation that seems to be the problem. So you are invited to look at all aspects of yourself. This approach is based on the assumption that nothing stands entirely on its own and that we cannot split ourselves into separate parts.
Life coaching is primarily a process of becoming aware old patterns, emotions or underlying motives that (subconsciously or against better judgment) maintain a situation. Once this becomes clear, it will also become clear how you can achieve the desired change.
Symptoms are signposts
Whatever the problem – getting stuck in work or relationship, suffering from stress, anxiety or depression, or a general feeling of unease – it is often not the ultimate issue to be solved. Therefore, they can be seen as symptoms or signposts. They are wake-up calls that invite us to pay attention to something in ourselves that we have neglected.
What is the difference between Life coaching and Counseling?
Life coaching has a more practical approach and is primarily based on your abilities and qualities. Counseling takes time to consider underlying psychodynamic processes and patterns, which makes it a more in-depth approach. In my experience, both approaches complement each other well. However, the approach will be determined by what you bring into the sessions as a client.
